8.20.2021 Raising & lowering of the flags at the United States Pentagon Memorial. We received authorization 15 mintues after the 9/11 Ride arrived in DC. There were a few frantic calls/pleas to the Pentagon. Kudos to their chain of command. Their objectives were clear (security & to preserve the integrity of the memorial). This project has never been done before. They had very valid concerns about not allowing this project.

Honor our Fallen
A small group of public safety personnel decided to honor our fallen brothers and sisters that perished as a result of the September 11th Attacks on America. The events resulted in the loss of citizens from 78 countries. This was not just an attack on the United States... it was an attack on the world.
As we approach the 20th Anniversary of September 11th it is imperative that we generate public awareness on multiple levels. On one single day a total of 2,996 people were killed in the 9/11 attacks aboard the four airplanes. Citizens of 78 countries died in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania.
At the World Trade Center, 2,763 died after the two planes slammed into the twin towers. That figure includes 343 firefighters and paramedics, 23 New York City Police Officers and 37 Port Authority Police Officers who were struggling to complete an evacuation of the buildings and save the office workers trapped on higher floors.
At the Pentagon, 189 people were killed, including 64 on American Airlines Flight 77, the airliner that struck the building. On Flight 93, 44 people died when the plane crashed Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
To honor our fallen brothers and sisters in the NYPD, Port Authority PD and the FDNY a small group of public safety personnel are initiating a project called "Flags Across America". In partnership with the national “America’s 9/11 ride” we will take 60 US flags and fly them at each of the three National Memorial sites. Those flags will then be delivered to the governors of each state to fly above their state’s Capitol on 9/11/2021. Then each state can encase the flag at their respective State Capitols. Additionally we are allocating one flag for each of the three National 9/11 Memorials.
